Antique Desk Stationery Box

Circa 1900

Beautiful antique stationery box with a sloped front and fitted interior. The cabinet opens up to reveal a series of racks for holding papers and letters, each ornately carved. There is a pen rest and a glass inkwell. In the side door is a series of pins which can have ribbon attached to make a web to hold papers and documents etc. There is a nice large sliding drawer at the bottom of the box. The doors of the cabinet have been ornately carved in deep relief with initials that look like DW.

It is been superbly well made and although it has been used it has obviously been well looked after over the years. It is in good original condition and has a lovely aged patina. The locks have been removed at some point and there are some chips and small damages to the internal racks. Some of the smaller internal dividers have also been removed at some point to make space for larger letters but it isn't detrimental. There are no major damages externally and overall it displays very nicely
