E.R. Watts & Son Surveyor's Level
In original box
Beautiful original theodolite manufactured by E.R. Watts & Son in the early 20th Century. The Theodolite itself has brass fittings and is engraved with a logo and also 'E.R. Watts & Son. London'. It is a high quality instrument with an extendable telescope and two spirit levels. The Theodolite screws into a mount that could then sit atop a tripod or similar.
It comes in its original fitted box which has a gorgeous aged patina and lots of signs of wear and use. Inside the box is also a spare eyepiece lens and the ends of the box are marked 'Eyepiece' and 'Object lens' to assist in fitting it back in the box. In the lid of the box is a paper label which reads 'E.R.Watts & Son. Surveyors & Architects' Instruments & Materials. 123 Camberwell Rd. London, England.' Below this is also written 'E.R.Watts & Son, Canada Limited. Ottawa, Winnipeg, Montreal and Toronto'.
It truly is a stunning instrument and it is in excellent condition. The instrument and brass fittings have been polished to a high standard and the parts cleaned and lubricated. The lenses are undamaged however they show the usual level of slight fogginess associated with an instrument of this age and there are some small specks on the lenses.
The theodolite measures 16" long, plus some further extension.
The best description I can give comes from the photos so please make sure you look at them all carefully and if you have any questions at all please ask.
