Philips 9" Terrestrial Globe
Early 20th Century
Beautiful original globe on a turned wood pedestal base with a brass axis. The globe carries the stamp "Philips 9 inch Terrestrial Globe. Warm currents red, cold currents blue. Principal Steamship routes with distances in Nautical Miles. London Geographical Institute. George Philip & Son Ltd. 32 Fleet St. Printed in Great Britain".
It is in good condition for its age. The globe has been lightly cleaned to preserve its original aged patina and is ready for display. The turned ebonised stand is in good order and the globe spins freely on its axis. There is some minor wear to the surface of the globe - some light scuffs and small areas which have rubbed over the years, one particular patch which I have photographed but nothing detrimental or untoward for a Globe of this age. Overall it has a beautiful aged patina and it displays beautifully.
