by J.Hicks, London
Lovely miniature glass thermometer dating from the Victorian period, set in its own leather case. The thermometer is completely original and in working order. It is set on a bone (cow bone) plaque which is marked in Fahrenheit and Centigrade. It is also marked with the maker's / retailer's name "J.Hicks.Maker.London". The leather case is hinged and has a small metal loop on the top.
It is in good condition for its age. The thermometer itself is in excellent condition with no damage to the glass or its mount due largely to the leather case it has been kept in. This case however is showing some signs of wear. Inside the silk lining opposite the thermometer is frayed and the leather covering on the outside has peeled in places. The hinges open and overall it is a lovely thing and it displays very nicely.
