Wooden Toy Horse
Beautiful hand-made toy horse, dating from the Victorian era. Most likely to have been made by a father for their child, it does not look like it has been factory-produced. It is so original and has clearly been well loved over the years. Much of the original paint remains and the red leather covering on the back is in reasonable condition. The horse is stood on metal wheels and rolls along quite happily on them. There is a covering where his mane would be which possibly had hair when it was first made but only the strip of material remains now.
He is in excellent original condition. The metal wheels are good and the wood is free of worm and major damage. He is of course covered in knocks and scuffs and lots of signs of wear. The paint is faded and the leather cover torn around the edges but this is what makes the piece so wonderful.
Height : 15" (38cm)
Length : 19" (48cm)
Width (between wheels) : 7" (18cm)
He really is the sweetest little horse and he displays beautifully. The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions please ask
