Clockwork Tinplate Zeppelin

by Lehmann

Made in Germany

Circa 1903

Fantastic early 20th Century wind up model of a Zeppelin, manufactured by the renowned maker Lehmann. It has its original key and the clockwork mechanism is strong and working well, turning the propellers at the back.

It is marked "EPL.I. 651. Marke. Lehmann. Made in Germany. Pat'd USA 12 Mai 03. 2 Jan 06 : 22 Jan 07."

It is in good condition for its age. Some of the gold litho has rubbed, particularly in areas where it would have been held and there are some small patches of rust on the body (see photos) but it has clearly been very well looked after. It has its original red baskets on the underside and its original propellers as well as the original tab and cord to suspend it with. All of the pressed joints and tabs are in excellent condition and there are no major dents or knocks.

It measures approximately 7" (18cm) long, excluding the propellers and is approximately 2" (5cm) wide.

The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you've got any questions please ask.
