Antique Ceramic Match Strike
A good example of a small globular match holder with a solid silver rim. The holder itself is ceramic with a shiny polished finish and the hole in the top is to store the matches. There is a black sailing ship stamped on the bottom - perhaps a maker or retailers mark.
The silver rim is hallmarked for Preece & Williscombe, London, 1934.
It is in good condition for its age. The finish is slightly rubbed and faded but the colours are still bright and vibrant. There are no cracks, chips or damages. There are some small dents, dinks and surface marks on the silver rim and general signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
