Elm and Pine Westcountry Dresser Base
A nice example of an Elm and Pine dresser base dating from the 19th century, most likely originating from the Westcountry. It has three drawers above two cupboards, the drawers with brass plate handles and the cupboards with brass knobs. The main body of the piece is made of elm with a beautiful elm top and sides. The drawer and cupboard fronts are pine.
It is in good condition for its age. It is clean and tidy inside and is strong and sturdy. There have been some repairs over the years, including a new back and the brass handles are not original. There are signs of age and use and some signs of old woodworm which have all been treated as a precaution and haven't affected it structurally or aesthetically. There are no other major damages and it displays beautifully. It has been cleaned and given a gentle wax and polish and is ready for use.
