Georgian Mahogany Serving Table with 2 Drawers
A lovely mahogany side table dating from the early 19th century. It is a good honest piece of country-made furniture and stands on simple square tapering legs with two deep drawers, each with a brass plate handle. The depth of the drawers suggests it was perhaps a serving table.
It is in very good condition for its age and is strong and sturdy. It has been gently polished and has a wonderful rich patina. There are signs of age and use, some minor surface marks and some light knocks and marks around the legs and feet but nothing detrimental. The handles have been replaced at some point in its life but suit the piece well. The drawers open and close well, having recently had the runners replaced and are lined in old paper. There are some old signs of woodworm in the drawers which have all been treated as a precaution and haven't affected it structurally or aesthetically. Overall the table displays beautifully and is ready for use.
