Antique Pine 'Dog Kennel' Dresser
A good example of an antique pine dresser dating from the early 19th century. The base has three drawers, each with a brass plate handle, above two cupboards and a central 'dog kennel'. The plate rack has two shelves with strips for standing plates up and metal hooks along the front. The cupboards are shelved and the rack has wonderful original wide boards. The pine has mellowed to an attractive warm colour with a lovely aged patina.
It is in good condition throughout and is a good sturdy piece of furniture. It has been thoroughly cleaned and has a nice smooth waxed finish while preserving the patina. The drawers open well, having had their runners replaced and they are clean and tidy inside having recently has new bases. It is not without signs of age and use. There are some marks and old stains on the surface, some old shrinkage splits and it has had various small repairs and restorations over the years but nothing untoward or detrimental. It displays beautifully and is ready for use.
