Georgian Oak Chest on Chest
A superb example of a late 18th Century oak Tallboy. This impressive piece is in good original condition with its original brass swan neck handles. It is well balanced, simple in design and the whole piece sits on bracket feet with attractive fret-work carving. It is good quality with dove-tailed drawers and unusual panelled sides. The lower section contains three graduating drawers and the top section contains two short over three long drawers. The top section comes off to split into two to make transport easier.
It is in very good condition for its age. It is sturdy has developed a beautiful patina with a deep rich colour. The drawers are lined with white paper and are generally clean and tidy and all open well. It has been well maintained over the years and as such has some small repairs in places but nothing detrimental. There are some minor signs of age and use and some small surface marks but nothing major and overall it displays beautifully.
