Antique Pocket Cylinder Microscope
Nice example of a good quality pocket cylinder microscope dating from the late 19th / early 20th Century. Often used by naturalists or botanists out in the field. The microscope itself is made of brass with a simple sprung platform on which the slide rests with an eyepiece at one end and a hole at the other for letting light through. There are no maker's details anywhere on the microscope. The microscope measures approximately 2" (5cm) long and 1" (2.5cm) wide. Please note it does not come with the slide in the photos.
The microscope appears to be in good working order and I have set it up and tested it with a few old slides. I'm sure the lenses would probably benefit from a clean but they produced a clear image all the same.
Overall the microscope is in good condition for its age and displays very nicely. It has been used and will have normal signs of wear. The brass is tarnished in places and there are some minor dings and some small marks but nothing detrimental. Although in working order it is really being sold as a decorative / collectors item rather than an accurate scientific instrument.
The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions at all please ask.
