Negretti and Zambra 3 1/2" Library Telescope on Original Tripod
A superb antique library telescope on its original folding metal tripod. It was made by 'Negretti and Zambra' and dates to the late 1800s / early 1900s. The telescope is made of brass and has a single large tube covered with black leather and an extendable eyepiece which focuses the telescope using the rack and pinion knob on the side. It also comes with its protective end cap.
The telescope sits atop a short folding metal tripod. It has a fixing bracket which tightens around the tube and allows the telescope to swivel completely around and move up and down.
Both the telescope and stand are in excellent condition and display beautifully - a real statement piece. The telescope has clearly been well looked after and there are no major damages, it has only suffered some minor dinks and small knocks to the tube. The lenses are undamaged and produce a clear and crisp image with an incredible range. Please bare in mind the telescope is 100 years old and the lenses will not be like new. There are some small specks of dirt on the lenses but it is perfectly useable.
