Type P11 Air Ministry Compass
An original WW2 Pilot's compass, used in Spitfires and other military planes during the war. It has a plaque on the rim which reads 'B/R/9/52'.
The compass sits in its original box, with the original grey painted finish with hand written red warning notices 'Delicate instrument to be handled with great care' marked on the sides. There is an inspection stamp in the inside of the lid which, although faded is just about readable and says "Examined. 16 Mar 19..." I believe the date is 1943 but this part is faded and hard to make out. There are various knocks, scuffs and signs of age and use on the box but its sturdy and displays well and even has its original cloth handle.
The compass itself has its original grey finish with black painted rim. It has picked up some knocks, scratches and signs of wear over the years but it displays very nicely.
Approximate Measurements :

I have not tested the compass for accuracy and it is sold as seen as a decorative / collectors piece. The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions please ask.
