Clarice Cliff Bowl

in the 'Gayday' Pattern

circa 1930

Very fine example of a popular Clarice Cliff pattern beautifully hand painted on a large bowl. The bowl displays very well and is unmistakably Clarice Cliff.

The pattern shows red, orange and purple asters amidst green leaves above brown and green bands. Pansy type flowers in red, orange and yellow over a brown Cafe-au-Lait ground. The bowl has a yellow rim and black edging.

Approximate Measurements :

Diameter : 8" (21cm)

Height : 3 1/2" (9cm)

The bowl is in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks or restoration. The bowl is even free from crazing. There are some very light marks on the bowl commensurate with age and light use but nothing that detracts from the bowl. The colours remain bright and vibrant.

The bowl is fully stamped on the underneath with "Gayday. Hand Painted. Bizarre by Clarice Cliff. Wilkinson Ltd England"
