Antique Tabletop Wellington Specimen Cabinet
A lovely antique tabletop Wellington chest dating from the late 19th / early 20th Century. It is an excellent quality piece with shaped columns and is solidly made with hand cut dovetail joints on all the drawers. It comes with its original working key.
This particular chest was originally used to store a collection of butterflies. Each drawer is numbered 1-10 and has its original turned wooden knobs. The drawers are fitted with a removable glass cover to preserve the specimens. Internally the drawers measure approximately 16" / 41cm long x 9" / 22.5cm wide x 1" / 3cm deep
It is in good original condition and displays very nicely. It has picked up a few minor knocks and scuffs over the years but nothing detrimental. It has a good aged patina. The drawers all open and close smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside with a few small stains and marks.
