Antique Anglo Indian Teak Chest

Good example of a late 19th century Anglo-Indian teak chest. It is decorated with ornate brass corner pieces on each side, matching brass escutcheon, central diamond-shaped cartouche on the lid and large brass carrying handles on the sides. The hinged lid opens to the large storage area and also reveals an additional candle box within. This candle box is lined with Newspaper dated 1912, although we believe the chest pre-dates the newspaper.

It is in good condition throughout and is strong and sturdy with a beautiful rich patina. There are signs of age and use, some small marks and knocks, a small split in the lid and a small chip on the front bottom corner but nothing detrimental or untowards. The hinges have been changed and moved at some point but are strong and in good order. All the brass is present and in good order and the interior is clean and tidy. Please note there is no key.
