Mahogany Campaign Chest of Drawers
A wonderful mahogany military chest dating from the late 19th Century. Typical of campaign furniture it splits into two sections with small wooden pegs to hold it together. The turned handles are all original and easily unscrew which would have allowed for it to be packed away for transport. It also has large brass carrying handles on the side of each section and brass corner pieces.
They are excellent quality made of solid mahogany and are in very good condition for their age. The drawers are generally clean and tidy and open well and the back is good and solid. There are no major damages however there are signs of age and use picked up over the years, small surface marks and knocks and the top has faded slightly but overall they display very well.
They have been well looked after but well used and travelled and as such the original screw in bun feet have been lost at some point and it now sits on small block feet instead. It also would have had more corner brasses which have been taken off and it is missing one of the wooden pegs. The two top locks have been replaced at some point but the rest are original and are engraved A&N Co which stands for Army & Navy Cooperative Store.
