Georgian Mahogany Crossbanded Chest of Drawers
2 short over 3 long drawers
A beautiful mahogany chest of drawers dating from the late 18th / early 19th Century. The drawer fronts are inlaid with boxwood stringing and each has its original brass swan neck handles. The mahogany top has a crossbanded edge and the chest is set on splayed bracket feet.
It is excellent quality, very well made and in good original condition with a rich patina. There is a small old split to the rear of the top surface and a few minor knocks to the cock-beading. Some back plates on the handles differ slightly, having been changed at some point and there are general signs of age and use, some marks and light stains but nothing detrimental or untoward. The drawers are oak lined and run well and it is a clean sturdy set of drawers that display beautifully.
