Antique Electric Shock Therapy Machine

"The Newly Invented Improved Magneto-Electric Machine for Nervous Diseases"
Circa 1880
Fantastic electric shock machine dating from the Victorian Era, contained in its original wooden box with its original probes. There is a wooden winding handle which attaches to the front of the box and turns the gilt wheel inside. There is a large magnet in the box which induces the current. On each side of the box are terminals where you connect the metal probes.
It comes in a good quality wooden box and it has its original paper label in the lid with directions for use. It also comes with its original brass probes and pins for the terminals.
Approximate Measurements :
Height of box : 4 1/2" (11cm)
Width : 10" (25cm)
Depth : 4 1/2" (11cm)
I have not attempted to test the machine as far as whether it generates a shock and it is being sold as seen. However I can confirm that all the parts move as they should and it appears to be complete. It is in good condition for its age. The box has picked up some small scuffs, ons splits and knocks over the years but nothing major. It's a lovely machine and displays very well. The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions please ask.
