Philips 13 1/2" Standard Globe
circa 1930s / 1940s
A large vintage globe on a turned wood pedestal base with a metal axis. The globe carries the stamp "Philips' Standard Globe. Scale 1 : 37,440,000. Diameter 13 1/2 inches. London Geographical Institute. George Philip & Son Ltd. 32 Fleet St. Printed and Manufactured in Great Britain."
It is in very good condition for its age. The globe has been lightly cleaned to preserve its original aged patina and is ready for display. The turned wooden stand is in good order with some marks and light scratches but nothing detrimental and the globe spins freely on its axis. There is some light wear to the surface of the globe - some scuffs and small areas which have rubbed over the years and minor losses but nothing detrimental or untoward for a vintage Globe of this age. Overall it has a lovely aged patina and it displays beautifully.
