Welsh Oak Potboard Dresser
Superb example of a late 18th / early 19th century oak dresser originating from the Swansea Valley with pleasing small proportions. The base has five drawers arranged as three over two with a wonderful arch shaped pierced fret design below the middle drawer. It is set on turned front legs with fan shaped detail in the corners and an open potboard base. The back is fully planked with the original wide pine boards. The rack has two open shelves with grooves for displaying plates and all of its original blacksmith made hooks.
Recently removed from a Welsh farmhouse, it is in excellent original condition. It is not without some signs of age and use but this has all helped to develop a beautiful patina over the years. There are signs of historic woodworm which has all been treated as a precaution but has not affected the dresser structurally or aesthetically. There are no major damages and the drawers all open well. It has been given a clean and light wax to enhance and preserve its wonderful rich patina and is ready for the home.
