Early 18th Century Oak Chest of Drawers
A superb small oak chest of drawers dating from the early 18th Century. They are made of solid oak with panelled sides and three long drawers set on bracket feet. Each drawer has brass swan neck handles and the drawers were made to run on 'side runners' - a sign of their age. They have been later adapted to run on bottom runners and open and close smoothly.
They are excellent quality and have been well looked after over the years. The chest is strong and sturdy with a good solid panelled back. They have developed a wonderful rich aged patina and have picked up various small knocks, marks and signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. There are various small repairs and restorations, particularly the very back strip of wood on the top has ben replaced at some point but it is a good match and they certainly display beautifully.
