18th Century Oak Dresser Base
A lovely large country oak dresser base dating from the early 18th Century with two drawers above two cupboard doors with a shelved interior. The sides are panelled and the doors are flanked by carved panels and are themselves carved. It is very much a handmade piece in a truly rustic country style with two large thick planks on top and a bold design.
It is in good condition for its age. It is generally clean inside and out and is strong and sturdy. There are some period repairs and the planked top has shrunk slightly leaving a split between the planks which has been filled and repaired at some point. The doors have shrunk slightly but still close firmly and the feet are in good order. There are no major damages and it displays very nicely. It has been thoroughly cleaned and given a smooth waxed finish and is ready for the home.
