Georgian Rosewood Tea Caddy
A fine example of an early 19th Century sarcophagus shaped Tea Caddy with beautifully figured Rosewood veneer with inlaid border. It comes complete with its original cut glass mixing bowl and pair of wooden lidded tea canisters.
The raised top panel and the back of the Caddy is mahogany and the rest is rosewood. The inlaid borders are a pretty geometric triangular pattern with matching inlaid diamond escutcheon.
It is in very good condition for its age and displays beautifully. It is complete and the glass bowl is undamaged with a lovely ring to it. The inside is clean and tidy and the exterior has a rich patina. There are some small signs of wear and age and a chip on the back corner (see photo) but nothing major. The lid has warped slightly over time and the front sits slightly off the lip but it isn't detrimental. Overall it is a nice clean box however there is no key.
