Elizabeth II Coronation Stool
with original tickets, invitation and program
Stand 50, Block C, Row X, Seat 5/6
Original stool from Queen Elizabeth's Coronation at Westminster Abbey on 2nd June 1953.
It is made of limed oak and sits on square chamfered legs. The underside is branded 'ER Coronation'. It is upholstered with a blue velvet fabric with gold embroidered edging.
Height : 19" (48cm)
Width : 18" (46cm)
Depth : 12" (32cm)
The stool is from the Government Stands in the Mall and is believed to have belonged to Wing Commander W.A Laurie, as his name is on the invitation. It comes with two original admission tickets from the event as well as an invitation from the Air Ministry and a page of advice to ticket holders, all in remarkable condition.
Further to this there is a Coronation programme from the Borough of Beaumaris and a book 'The Form and Order of the Service and the Music Sung'.
The stool itself has been well looked after and is in reasonable condition for its age. The upholstery is faded and a little worn in places and is quite bobbled on the surface but there is no major damage and it retains a lovely aged and authentic look. The stool itself is sturdy and the legs are in good condition.
